Klush named to dean’s list
HEMPSTEAD, NY — Sarah Klush, of Pittston, excelled during the spring 2019 semester, achieving a GPA of at least 3.5 to earn a spot on the dean’s list at Hofstra University.
Augustine graduates
CHESTER — Kaylin Augustine, of Wyoming, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Widener University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology Pre-Physical Therapy from the College of Arts & Sciences.
Zukosky graduates with honors
SCRANTON — Tara Zukosky, of Wyoming, was among 28 members of The University of Scranton’s Class of 2019 who graduated from its undergraduate Honors Program, one of the Jesuit university’s programs of excellence. Students in the Honors Program pursue a rigorous education that stresses independent work through close engagement with professors and other honors students, including the preparation, presentation and defense of a research or creative project during their senior year. Zukosky, who graduated cum laude, majored in biology.
Two graduate from U of S
SCRANTON — Brittany Thomas, of Exeter, and Brandon Zaffuto, of Pittston, were among 28 members of The University of Scranton’s class of 2019 who graduated from its undergraduate Honors Program, one of the Jesuit university’s programs of excellence. Thomas, who graduated summa cum laude, majored in neuroscienceand biology. Zaffuto, who graduated magna cum laude, majored in English and philosophy. Zuffuto was also a member of the University’s Special Jesuit Liberal Arts Program.
Three named to dean’s list
PHILADELPHIA — Kelly Mitchell, of Pittston, Brittany Souryavong, of Duryea, and Nina Cencetti, of Pittston, have been named to the spring 2019 dean’s list at University of the Sciences. Mitchell and Souryavong are Doctor of Pharmacy students, while Cencetti is a Doctor of Physical Therapy student.
Polit-Moran graduates
ROCHESTER, NY — Jude Polit-Moran, of West Pittston, graduated from the University of Rochester May 19 with a bachelor of science degree in biological sciences: cell & development. He graduated magna cum laude. Polit-Moran is the child of Sami Lynn Polit-Panek of West Pittston, and John Moran of Carbondale, and a graduate of Wyoming Area High School.

Mazurkivich inducted into society
PHILADELPHIA — Michael Mazurkivich, Duryea, was recently inducted into the International Foreign Language Honor Society, Phi Sigma Iota, at Chestnut Hill College. Phi Sigma Iota honors outstanding students in the field of foreign languages and literature. Mazurkivich finished his sophomore year by attaining the dean’s list with a perfect 4.0 average. He is a Political Science major with concentrations in German, business and European Union studies. He is a graduate of Pittston Area High School and the son of Frank and Diane Mazurkivich.

SCRANTON — Lauren M. Jurbala, of Avoca, was among graduate students recognized for academic achievement at The University of Scranton’s post-baccalaureate degree commencement May 25.
