Knights of Columbus Council 5940 honored the clergy of the deanery during a dinner July 25 at Queen of the Apostles Parish Hall.
Dinner chairman Robert Gillette and dinner co-chairman Robert Ryzner welcomed the guests, and additional remarks were given by Robert Pagnotti II, Worthy Grand Knight. The Rev. August A. Riccardi gave the invocation and the Rev. Phillip J. Slodicka held closing prayers. Additional remarks were given by District Deputy Arthur Bobbouine.
The council also conferred 1st and 2nd degrees of Knighthood to four new members. The first degree has a principle mission of charity and the second degree has a principal mission of unity.
New members who received their first and second degrees include Tim Tayntor, Tim Pilch, Christopher Musso and Marc Phillips.
Any male age 18 or older who is a practicing Catholic is invited to join the Knights’ Council 5940. Contact membership chairman, Deputy Grand Knight Robert Ryzner at 570-885-2096.
The Knights Council will sell their “world famous Strawberry Shortcakes” from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Old Forge Farmers Market for $4 each.
The Council is also taking reservations for a bus trip to New Haven, Conn., to see the Knights’ headquarters and museum as well as Father McGivney’s Tomb and Gallery. Cost is $45 per seat. The Martz bus will leave at 6:30 a.m. Sept. 7 from Queen of the Apostles Parish Hall parking Lot 000000 and should return around 8:30 p.m. Seating is limited to 55 people.
