Descendants of Charles and Emanuella Mazzarella celebrated their 50th annual family reunion on Aug. 11. Charles and Emanuella came to the United States in the late 1890s from Avellino, Italy and raised six children in Exeter. Their grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren came to the afternoon event at the Checkerboard Inn. Fifty-five family members attended, including those from Canada, Finland, Maine, New Hampshire, New York and Pennsylvania. Music was provided by DJ Scott Stevens. Reunion officers are Joseph Mazzarella, president; Anna Marie Shedlock,vice president. Angie Naples Lawler, treasurer; Theresa Mazzarella Morrow, secretary. The 51st family reunion is planned for Aug. 9, 2020 at the Checkerboard Inn.
