Car Seat Safety Check

Join us on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for this free event. Car seat techs will be on hand to check the installation and use of car seats. First come first serve. No appointment necessary. In case of rain…safety check will be held at the Greater Pittston Regional Ambulance, 83 S. Financial Aid Night

Monday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. in the John P. Cosgrove Center. District high school students and their parents are encouraged to attend this informative session to get a better understanding of the student aid process and how best to begin planning to fund their higher education. A student aid expert from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) will be available to provide information and answer questions. The Friends of the Pittston Library are conducting a book drive leading up to their book sale.Bring your books to the John P. Fall Book Sale

Join us for the Friends of the Pittston Library Fall Fill A Bag Book Sale on Friday, Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is something for everyone. Thousands of new to used books, DVDs, audios and more.

Fidget Band Service Project

Join members of our crochet and knitting club to make fidget arm bands that will be added to our library’s memory project. You are able to attend as many of the dates as you want but you do not need to commit to all dates. Program will take place Tuesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. and Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m. in September. Call the library to register. Prior experience knitting or crocheting is required and all finished projects will be donated to the Pittston Memorial Library’s Memory Program. Some supplies will be provided but please feel free to bring your own yarn and embellishments. Please call the library or message the page to reserve your spot.

Art Afternoon

All are welcome to come to the library Friday afternoons from 1 to 3:30 p.m. for art afternoon. Work on some zen coloring in the library or bring your own supplies and work on some crochet, knitting or felting.

Grammar pencil sale

You asked for them… we got them. A set of five high-quality pencils with common grammar mistakes are just $5 and make a great gift for your favorite lit nerd.

Book Club

The Literary Snoops Book Club now meets at the West Pittston Library at 12:15 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month. Participants are encouraged to bring a bag lunch for the discussion.

WYOMING FREE LIBRARY

Gertude Hawk candy bar fundraiser

The library is selling Gertrude Hawk candy bars. Available flavors are peanut butter, crispy, caramel, solid milk and dark chocolate. Each bar is $1. All proceeds benefit the Wyoming Free Library.
