Pittston Area senior Hannah Waleski was recently named a Commended Student by the National Merit Scholarship Organization for her performance on the 2018 Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Just 34,000 students nationwide were recognized for their ‘exceptional academic promise’ and all place in the top 3% of the 1.5 million students who took the qualifying test. Waleski plans to attend a four-year university and pursue a career in mathematics.
