PITTSTON — The Pittston Memorial Library will host its fifth annual Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 in its John P. Cosgrove Center. The event is free of charge and all are invited to attend.
The Health Fair is sponsored by Geisinger Health Service and National Network of Libraries of Medicine, of which the Pittston Memorial Library has been a member for many years.
“We believe this is a very important type of event the library can offer to the community,” said Howard Grossman, Health Fair chairman and director of fund raising for the library. “In the past four years, we’ve grown a little bit each year and a lot of seniors attend but it’s open to families and any person in the communities mainly served by the Pittston Memorial Library as well as residents from Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties.”
Grossman said over 30 vendor/resource tables will be set up at the Cosgrove Center.
“It’s a wonderful thing we do for the community and any exposure to the library is always wonderful,” added Patricia Joyce, Pittston Memorial Library director. “Because of our population, it’s great to have exposure to so many health agencies, especially this time of the year with insurance agencies having open enrollment. It’s nice having options and people can talk face-to-face instead of being on the phone asking questions.”
Last year, an estimated 100 residents attended the Health Fair.
“It’s a good time of year to have this and we’re thrilled to support it,” Joyce added.
