SCRANTON — Sergey Gnilopyat, of Harding, a member of Geisinger commonwealth School of Medicine’s Class of 2023, was elected to the position of MD Class of 2023 IT Class Representative.

WILKES-BARRE — Three Wilkes University mechanical engineering and engineering management majors presented their senior projects and demonstrated them at an event on Nov. 23. James DeGerolamo, of Avoca, Samuel Lizza, of Yatesville, and Chaz Yager, of Avoca, all presented projects.
Simon involved in event
SCRANTON — Rachel Simon, of Pittston, with other student leaders at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine (GCSOM), recently planned and organized the school’s second Indigenous/First Nation People Bazaar to celebrate is Indigenous/First Nation People Heritage Month, an observance that occurs in November.
Cocco receives medal
SCRANTON — Philip Cocco, of Pittston ,was among nine students at The University of Scranton who received the 2018-19 Frank O’Hara medals. Frank O’Hara medals were given to students with the highest grade-point averages in their first, second and third year in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Kania School of Management and the Panuska College of Professional Studies for the 2018-19 academic year. Cocco received a medal for academic achievement for his freshman year. He is currently a sophomore majoring in finance and is also a member of the Kania School of Management Business Honors Program, where he serves as president of the Business Honors Club. He participates in the university’s Track and Field Team as a shot put thrower.
