PITTSTON — Richard Kazmerick, president of the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce, has announced Cassandra Coleman, executive director of America250PA, will serve as the principal speaker at the Mid-Winter Breakfast Meeting. The breakfast will be held Friday, Feb. 28 at the Gramercy Ballroom & Restaurant, 155 S. Main St.

America250PA was established by the legislature and governor in 2018 to plan, encourage, develop and coordinate the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, Pennsylvania’s integral role in that event and the impact of its people on the nation’s past, present and future.

Coleman most recently served as a special advisor to the Office of Governor Tom Wolf and prior served as director of Governor Wolf’s Northeast & Central offices from January 2015 to January 2019.

She also previously served as finance director and deputy campaign manager, respectively, for the Tom Wolf for Governor campaign from 2013-2015. She has also served as deputy finance director for United States Senator Bob Casey from 2010-2013.

In 2014, Coleman founded and served as president of Coleman & Associates, a company engaged in charitable, private and political creation of fund-raising networks and community and political event planning. C

Coleman is a board member of Leadership Wilkes-Barre, Junior Leadership of Wilkes-Barre and Children’s Service Center.

She is a 2010 graduate of King’s College where she earned a degree in Political Science. She is also a 2006 graduate of Wyoming Area High School where she frequently returns to talk to students about government and their roles int heir communities.

Coleman residents in Exeter and has a son, Jimmy IV.

Serving as general chair person of the breakfast is Attorney Girard J. Mecadon, who has practiced law in Pittston for 29 years.

A lifelong Pittston resident, Mecadon has been a Greater Pittston Chamber member since 1993 and is currently third vice-president of the Greater Pittston Chamber’s Board of Directors.

He is also vice-president of Wilkes-Barre Law Library Association (Luzerne County Bar) and a member of Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office Youth Aid Panel.

Other community involvement includes past president and chairman of the board, Wilkes-Barre Chapter of UNICO National; Wilkes-Barre Law & Library Association Executive Committee, Wilkes-Barre Law & Library Association, co-chair, budget committee; former advisory board member of Landmark Community Bank, Fourth Degree member of the Pittston Knights of Columbus, President JFK Assembly 948; Pittston Tomato Festival Committee solicitor, Pittston Township Little League solicitor, Pittston Township Lions Club,Plains Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellow recipient) and The University of Scranton Alumni Society.

Attorney Mecadon resides in Pittston with his wife Christa Devizia Mecadon and son Alfred Joseph (AJ).
