Mason Gross made the most of his playing time when Wilkes University opened its men’s basketball season Nov. 15 with an 83-58 victory over Penn State-Hazleton.
The 6-foot-5 senior forward from Pittston Area played nine minutes and produced six points, three rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot. He made three of his four shots.
Wilkes improved to 2-0 Nov. 18 when it defeated host Elizabethtown, 86-75.
Gross played 13 minutes in the game. He made his only shot from the floor, but missed all four free throw attempts while finishing with two points and five defensive rebounds.
Coming into this season, Gross had played in 54 games for the Colonels. He averaged 4.9 points and 2.9 rebounds in 25 games as a freshman, then, after limited playing time as a sophomore, averaged 4.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in 23 games last season.
