Wyoming Area finished its girls volleyball regular season, but the Lady Warriors need to wait to see if there are still matches left to be played.

As of Saturday, the Lady Warriors were ninth out of 12 teams pursuing District 2 Class 3A playoff berths. They are 5-11 after winning once in three matches during the week and they trail Valley View, which is 6-10 with two matches remaining.

Valley View has a 422-.412 edge in the playoff power ratings before playing Monday and Tuesday.

Hazleton Area 3, Wyoming Area 1

Wyoming Area took the first set 25-23 in Wednesday’s Wyoming Valley Conference match before visiting Hazleton Area rallied for the victory.

The Lady Cougars winning set scores were 25-22, 25-15, 25-14.

Taylor Gashi, who had seven kills, and Kenzie Galenty each had 10 digs and two service aces for Wyoming Area.

Sara Pealer had a strong all-around match with six kills, five solo blocks, three block assists and four aces.

Ava Boyle had 17 assists and three digs.

Berwick 3, Pittston Area 0

Berwick routed visiting Pittston Area Wednesday to finish as unbeaten champion of the WVC.

The Lady Bulldogs won by scores of 25-9, 25-4, 25-9.

Crestwood 3, Wyoming Area 0

Wyoming Area lost at home Tuesday, which was the second of three straight days in which the Lady Warriors had WVC matches.

Crestwood won, 25-8, 25-16, 25-15.

Taylor Gashi had seven kills and six digs in the loss.

Madelyn Smith had eight assists and five digs while Sara Pealer had four digs and three kills

Wyoming Area 3, Hanover Area 0

Taylor Gashi had 12 kills and nine digs as Wyoming Area swept host Hanover Area in Monday’s WVC match.

The Lady Warriors won by set scores of 25-13, 25-22, 25-8.

Kenzie Galenty had 10 digs and three aces while Josie Kivak had nine digs and seven aces.

Chyenne Stevenson chipped in eight kills while Addy Byers had five aces and four digs.

Josie Kivak, who served up seven aces, and Kenzie Galenty each contributed nine digs. Madelyn Smith had 12 assists and four digs.

Holy Redeemer 3, Pittston Area 0

Bella Boylan surpassed 1,000 kills for her career while leading Holy Redeemer past host Pittston Area in three sets Monday.

The Lady Royals got stronger as the match progressed, winning 25-21, 25-15, 25-8.
