Max Langdon tripled in a run and Bruno Pizzano doubled in two during a five-run third inning that carried Wyoming Area over Valley View 7-3 Tuesday in a District 2 Class 4A baseball quarterfinal.

The top-seeded Warriors and Cougars were tied at 2-2 before Wyoming Area put together five hits in the bottom of the third.

Zach Smith’s infield single to lead off the inning ignited the outburst.

The first six batters reached base in the third. Ben Rogish and Alex Vacula used back-to-back singles to drive in the last two Wyoming Area runs.

Mitchell Rusinchak went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Smith and Langdon each had two hits. Drew Favata drove in two runs.

Ryan Nemshick, Jake Snyder and Alex Vacula combined on a five-hitter.

Nemshick allowed three runs on four hits in 3 2/3 innings. Snyder gave up just one hit in 2 1/3 scoreless innings, but walked five while striking out four. Vacula struck out two and walked one while working the seventh inning.

Wyoming Seminary 10, Old Forge 3

Wyoming Seminary broke open a tie game by scoring a combined seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings Tuesday to knock visiting Old Forge out of the District 2 Class 2A playoffs in a quarterfinal game.

Luke Olivieri doubled in one run and scored another in the third to pull the Blue Devils into the 3-3 tie.

The Blue Knights used their running game to make the most of four hits and eight walks. Five of their players stole multiple bases.

Old Forge finished 9-11.
