Greater Pittston Area’s quest for the Little League Major Baseball state championship came to an end Friday night as Newtown-Edgmont pulled away late for a 9-3 victory at Camp Hill Little League.
GPA trailed throughout after falling into a 4-0 hole after two innings. The team scratched back to within 4-3 after five innings, but Newtown-Edgmont scored five runs in the top of the sixth.
Newtown-Edgmont advanced to the championship round with its elimination bracket finals victory. It will play East Pennsboro at 1 p.m. Saturday. If Newtown-Edgmont wins Saturday, then the teams will play again at 1 p.m. Sunday for the state title.
