Wyoming Area got goals from three different players Tuesday night when it traveled to Bloomsburg and defeated the District 4 champion Panthers, 3-1, in a PIAA Class A first-round state field hockey tournament game.
Nina Angeli scored in the first quarter and Bianca Pizano in the second for a 2-0 halftime lead.
Bloomsburg closed within a goal before Morgan Janeski scored in the fourth quarter off an assist from Addyson Dragwa.
Carly Saranchuk had four saves in the win.
Wyoming Area led in shots, 12-5, and pealty corners, 12-7.
Cross country
Wyoming Area junior Madelyn Keating, running for just the second time this season in her return from knee surgery, finished in the top one-third of the Class 2A girls field Nov. 6 at the PIAA Cross Country Championships.
Keating finished 83rd in the state out of 252 entries when she finished the Hershey Parkview Course in 21:28.4
