Dylan Stoss and Nick Winsock combined for a first-round victory Friday before being eliminated in the second round of the District 2 Class 2A boys tennis doubles tournament at Kirby Park.

Stoss-Winsock defeated Dunmore’s Kieran Hinton-Conor Roberts, 6-1, 6-0, but lost in the second round against the second-seeded team of Luke Kotcho-Liam Harrison from Valley View. Kotcho-Harrison won, 6-1, 6-2.

The Stoss-Winsock victory was the only one Wyoming Area could manage during the week’s singles and doubles tournaments.

Both Wyoming Area doubles teams were knocked out by seeded opponents. The other match went to a first-set tiebreaker.

Eighth-seeded William Wolfgang-Caleb Hurley from Holy Redeemer defeated Sean Burke-Gabe Cable, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3.

Stoss and Braidon Kostik each lost in the first round of Tuesday’s singles tournament, also at Kirby Park.

Honesdale’s John Rodriguez defeated Kostik, 6-3, 6-4. Eighth-seeded Lucas Carver from Dallas beat Stoss, 6-0, 6-2.
