Bianca Pizano and Alexys Moore, the two senior leaders of Wyoming Area’s trip to the state championship game, were named first-team, all-state in Class A by the Pennsylvania State Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Nina Angeli and Alyvia Yatsko were selected for the second team.

All four were also named Scholar-Athletes by the coaches association.

Lyla Rehill received honorable mention on the all-state team.

Samara Campenni was another Scholar-Athlete.

Isabella Pisano, a Wyoming Seminary senior who started her career at Pittston Area, made the second team in Class A.

UNICO FOOTBALL

Pittston Area’s Nick Barbieri has been selected to coach the Pioneers team that will take on the Miners June 3 at Wyoming Area in the UNICO Game, the senior football all-star game for Wyoming Valley Conference players.

Players from Pittston Area and Wyoming Area will be teammates on the Pioneers.

Wide receiver/defensive backs Rob Barbieri, Kevin Lockett and Josh Pierre; running back/linebacker John Barchi-Crich and Drew Menendez; two-way linemen Jake Mills, Jaiden Morgans and Nick Sciandra; running back/defensive back Harry Pugliese and running back/defensive lineman David Sudo are the Pittston Area players selected for the game.

Tight end/defensive lineman Justin Francis; two-way linemen Riley Knaub and Ethan Speece; tight end/linebacker Joe Marranca; and wide receiver Garret Pocceschi are the Wyoming Area selections.

Players from Holy Redeemer, Lake-Lehman, Tunkhannock, Wyoming Seminary and Wyoming Valley West are also part of the Pioneers roster.

Crestwood’s Ryan Arcangeli will coach the Miners team that includes players from Berwick, Crestwood, Dallas, Hanover Area, Hazleton Area, Nanticoke and Wilkes-Barre Area.
