Wyoming Area lost ground in one race, but held on to a slim advantage in another when a lead got away in its Tuesday home girls soccer game against Lake-Lehman.

The Lady Knights came from two goals down to post a 3-2 victory in the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 game, seriously damaging the Lady Warriors’ title hopes there.

Holy Redeemer leads the division with a 9-1 record. Lake-Lehman moved into second at 8-2, just in front of Wyoming Area at 8-2-1 with one game remaining.

Wyoming Area remains in front in the race for the top seed in the District 2 Class 2A playoffs. The Lady Warriors (12-2-2 overall) went into Saturday with a small lead on Lake-Lehman (13-2) in the playoff power ratings race.

Ella Shepulski scored on an Ava Musinski assist with 14:35 left in the first quarter and Musinski scored off a feed from Jailyn Park 5:45 later.

The two-goal lead, however, lasted just 23 seconds.

Kinley Purdy got Lake-Lehman on the board on a penalty kick with 8:27 left in the half.

Gracie Bucknavage assisted Ashley Hudak on the game-tying goal with 9:25 left, then scored the winner with 3:22 remaining.

Lake-Lehman had leads of 17-12 in shots and 6-3 in corner kicks in the action-packed game.

Abby Francis made 14 saves in the loss.

Kathryn Morgan had 10 saves for Lake-Lehman.

Elsewhere

The Wyoming Area boys, Pittston Area boys and Pittston Area girls each went winless in multiple games during the time from Oct. 5-11 without scoring in the seven combined games.

The Warriors (7-9) lost to Holy Redeemer 3-0 and Tunkhannock (1-0).

The Patriots (5-9-2) played to a scoreless tie with Wilkes-Barre Area and lost 1-0 to Dallas.

The Lady Patriots (1-15) lost to Berwick (2-0), Hazleton Area (4-0) and Lake-Lehman (9-0).
