Pittston Area got goals from four different players Thursday while defeating visiting Wyoming Area 4-1 in a non-league boys soccer game between the rivals.

The game was the season finale for Wyoming Area and the final regular-season game for Pittston Area.

Sadiki Murindabangabo broke a 1-1 tie off an assist from Gavin Wolfe with 1:39 left in the first half.

Brayden Shotwell and William Egan opened and closed the scoring with unassisted goals.

Jacob Ivey also scored, on an assist from Kaden Rowan.

Wyoming Area tied it at 1-1 less than 10 minutes into the game when Ben Rogish set up a goal by Ben Nichol.

Pittston Area led 16-8 in shots on goal and 7-2 in corner kicks.

Lonnie Maldonado made seven saves for the Patriots.

Hayden Laughman had 12 saves for the Warriors in the loss.

Wyoming Valley West 4, Pittston Area 3

Wyoming Valley West came back from a 3-0 deficit and won Tuesday’s Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 game at Pittston Area in overtime.

William Egan scored two goals and Sadiki Murindabangabo one for the Patriots.

The Patriots finished 3-8-1 in the division, part of a three-way tie for fifth place out of seven teams.

Hanover Area 4, Wyoming Area 0

Wyoming Area lost at home Monday in its final WVC Division 2 game.

The Warriors finished 6-8, tied for fourth out of eight teams in the division.

Wyoming Area 7, Hanover Area 1

Wyoming Area won its final WVC Division 2 game on the road Tuesday and wound up falling just short of a division title shot.

The Lady Warriors went 9-2-1, third of seven division teams, just a half-game behind Holy Redeemer and Lake-Lehman (both 12-2).

Wyoming Valley West 7, Pittston Area 0

Wyoming Valley West shut out visiting Pittston Area in Monday’s WVC Division 1 game.

The Lady Patriots lost their ninth straight and fourth straight by shutout.

Berwick 3, Wyoming Area 0

Berwick swept host Wyoming Area in Thursday’s WVC finale for the Lady Warriors.

Grace Robbins had 12 kills for the Lady Bulldogs, who won by set scores of 25-15, 25-11, 25-16 to clinch the WVC title.

Taylor Gashi had 10 digs, four aces, three kills and two blocks in the loss.

Kenzie Galenty had 11 digs, Madison Spittel had seven digs and Natalee Banashefski had three kills.

The Lady Warriors lost their last five matches and wound up 3-11, 12th out of 15 teams in the WVC.

Hazleton Area 3, Wyoming Area 1

Hazleton Area won at home Wednesday 25-14, 23-25, 25-15, 25-19.

Madelyn Smith and seven digs and nine assists for Wyoming Area in the loss.

Sara Pealer had seven blocks; Taylor Gashi 10 digs, eight kills and three blocks; Sara Pealer seven blocks; Natalee Banashefski four kills; and Kenzie Galenty 13 digs and three aces; and Addison Byers four kills and four blocks.

Pittston Area 3, Hanover Area 0

Pittston Area won Wednesday at Hanover Area to complete its WVC schedule at 4-10, good for 11th in the 15-team conference.

The Lady Patriots won by set scores of 25-7, 25-13, 25-16.

Berwick 3, Pittston Area 0

Berwick secured the Wyoming Valley Conference title.

The Lady Bulldogs won by scores of 25-16, 25-13, 25-8.

Julia Rauch had 24 assists, nine service points, five aces, six digs and four kills for Berwick.
