Pittston Area’s Jalen Moore finished first in two individual events April 26 in the Zephyr Track and Field Invitational at Whitehall.
Moore won the 200-meter dash in 22.77 and the 400 in 50.19 at the 20-team meet. He was also seventh in the 100 in 11.32.
The Patriots also picked up a relay win while two Lady Patriots won individual titles.
Pittston Area finished the 3200 relay in 8:30.26 to win by 15.4 seconds.
Caden Boettger, Aiden Egan, Jakob Mead and Brady Tucker formed the winning team.
Isabella Dessoye and Paige Bittman had the wins for the Pittston Area girls.
Dessoye won the 1600 in 5:27.57, took fourth in the 800 in 12.86 seconds and led off the second-place 3200 relay.
Bittman won the high jump by clearing 5-3.
Brady Tucker was sixth in the 800 in 2:08.37 while Mead was seventh in the 3200 in 10:51.20.
Pittston Area finished tied for fourth with 38 points.
Southern Lehigh beat out Palmerton for the team title 84½-80.
Pittston Area was fifth in the girls standings with 51½ points, one point out of third place.
Palmerton edged Northampton 74-71 for the team championship.
Maggie Gruber, Nadia Rawhouser and Olivea Scalese were also on the second-place relay team. Scalese was fifth in the 3200 in 12:44.4.
Elinor Schardien, Emmy Savakinas and Ali Butcher were all part of the fourth-place 400 relay team along with placing in an individual event.
Schardien was third in the pole vault with 9-0; Savakinas was fourth in the 100 hurdles in 17.22; and Butcher was fifth in the 100 dash in 12.86.
Annika Lien was also part of the 400 relay that finished in 51.42.
Jordan Relays
SCRANTON – Both Pittston Area teams finished seventh out of 10 in Class 3A in Thursday night’s Jordan Relays.
Abington Heights beat out Wallenpaupack for both titles, 41-37 in boys and 44-34 in girls. The Pittston Area boys scored 17 points and the girls scored 15.
Pittston Area’s best finish came in the boys 4×800-meter relay. Caden Boettger, Franklin Garcia, Jalen Moore and Brady Tucker combined to place third in 8:33.95.
Ali Butcher, Annika Lien, Emmy Savakinas and Elinor Schardien combined to place fourth in the 4×100-meter relay to lead the Lady Patriots.
Dallas 92, Pittston Area boys 58
Caden Boettger and Franklin Garcia contributed to both winning relays for Pittston Area and also won individual races during Tuesday’s loss to Dallas to end the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 season.
The Patriots finished 3-3.
Boettger won the 800 in 2:15. Garcia won the 400 in 55.5 seconds. They were both part of wins in the 1600 and 3200 relays.
Dallas 102, Pittston Area 48
Unbeaten Dallas won Tuesday’s WVC Division 1 finale, ending Pittston Area’s hopes of at least sharing a piece of first place.
The Lady Patriots finished third in the seven-team division at 4-2.
Elinor Schardien was the only pole vaulter to clear nine feet and also was on the winning 400 relay to lead Pittston Area.
