September 2005
Wyoming Area picked up a stunning 35-9 win over Coughlin to improve to 4-0 on the 1995 football season.
Tyler Serbin had an 82-yard touchdown and Ryan McDonnell threw a halfback pass to Robert DiPietro for a 34-yard touchdown in a 53-second span in the first quarter. Serbin added another 54-yard touchdown run and finished the day with just two carries for 138 yards and two scores.
Justin Piontkowski added the final Warrior score with a 1-yard plunge.
September 1995
On homecoming night, Pottsville upended Pittston Area’s football team, 35-13.
Sam Morganti set up Pittston Area’s first score with a fumble recovery. The Patriots then drove 57 yards for a touchdown, capped by Brian Wnenta’s 1-yard plunge. The only other Patriot score came when John Widdick hit Andre LaBrutte for 10 yards.
Running back Travis Grobes finished the game with 109 yards rushing.
September 1985
The Pittston Area cross country team swept a tri-meet with Tunkhannock and Meyers to remain unbeaten and in first place of the Wyoming Valley Conference.
The Patriots took down Tunkhannock, 19-36, and Meyers, 22-33. The Patriots brought home the top three finishers. Tom Oliver won with a time of 15:44. Dave Herbert and Frank Bartoli finished second and third with times of 16:25 and 16:26, respectively.
September 1975
The Pittston Area and Wyoming Area football games were postponed due to weather from Hurricane Eloise. WA’s game was pushed back to Monday and PA’s game was postponed indefinitely.
Wyoming Area was to host Coughlin in the first game at the newly-renovated Wyoming Area football facility. Instead, players from Pittston Area and Wyoming Area each chipped in to help others in need.
