EXETER — The 11th Annual Eugene DeMinico II Memorial Basketball Game, between the Wyoming Area and Pittston Area boys basketball teams, was played Dec. 18 and raised $4,000 for the Pittston Twp. and Pittston City K-9 Units.

Money from the game is raised by corporate and individual sponsors. There was a raffle of a smart TV, donated by the DeMinico family, along with gift certificates from the Chicken Coop and Bartolai Winery.

The game honors the memory of Eugene DeMinico II, a Pittston Twp. police officer and decorated Iraqi War veteran who was killed in a motor vehicle accident on Thanksgiving Eve 2005. The game was started by Joe Long, former coach at Seton Catholic and Alex Brogna, then-coach at Pittston Area.
