WEST PITTSTON — Wyoming Area’s Victoria Braccini scored the game-winner in the first half, as Madison Mulhern made a key defensive save with 10 minutes to play to preserve a win over Dallas on senior night Wednesday.
Braccini scored thanks to an assist from Emilie Wanko. The game was played under the lights at Anthony “Jake” Sobeski Stadium in West Pittston.
Katie Wolfgang made 10 saves in goal for the Warriors.
Mulhern’s save came after a fast break by Dallas. Wolfgang made the initial two saves on the break, but the third got past the senior goalie. That’s when Mulhern dove to the ground and made a stick save, and was able to sweep the ball out of the zone.
The Warriors will be playing in the first round of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association District 2 Class A championships on Monday, Oct. 24. Wyoming Area, the seventh seed, will travel to Lake-Lehman at 7 p.m.
Pittston Area did not qualify for the district championships.

Pittston Area allowed four goals in the first half, and another four in the second half of a loss under the lights Friday at Dallas.
Shelby Gardner made 12 saves on 24 Dallas shots.
Lackawanna Trail 3,

Pittston Area’s Gabby Para and Ali Dunn each scored a first-half goal in the Patriots’ loss to Lackawanna Trail on Wednesday.
Shelby Gardner made seven saves for the Patriots, who got off nine shots. A second half goal with 16 minutes to play by Trail sent Pittston Area to a loss.
Crestwood 4, Wyoming Area 1
Crestwood’s Mackenzie Kile and Sarah Richards both scored a goal in each half in a win over Wyoming Area Monday.
Wyoming Area’s Emilie Wanko was able to get the Warriors on the board at the 26-minute mark
Hazleton Area 9, Pittston Area 0
Pittston Area’s Shelby Gardner made 23 saves as the Patriots failed to get on the board against Hazleton Area Monday.
BOYS SOCCER
The PIAA District 2 Boys Soccer Championships will begin Monday, Oct. 24 with both Pittston Area (0-14) and Wyoming Area (2-12) competing in the Class 3A tournament. The Warriors are the 11th seed, while the Patriots are the 12th seed. Wyoming Area will travel to North Pocono at 6 p.m. Monday. Pittston Area will travel to Wyoming Valley West at 6:30 p.m.

Pittston Area’s Jordan Powers made six saves in the loss to Hazleton Area on Monday.
Jonathan Pozniak scored two goals and had one assist, while Gabriel Fabian chipped in with a goal and an assist in Hazleton Area’s win.

Zack Holthaus scored a goal and assisted another by Jake Hockenberry as Dallas scored just before midway through the first half in its win against Wyoming Area Wednesday.
Casey Orlando scored on a penalty kick in the 57th minute for the Warriors’ goal.

David Coretz had a hat trick for Coughlin while George Oko scored the other goal Wednesday.
GIRLS SOCCER
The PIAA District 2 Girls Soccer Championships begin Tuesday, Oct. 25. Pittston Area (3-8-1) was awarded the 10th seed and will play at 3:45 p.m. at Scranton Prep in the Class 3A tournament. Wyoming Area (8-7-1), the eighth seed, will host Meyers at 4:30 p.m. in the Class 2A championship.

GAR 2
Wyoming Area’s Aleah Kranson and Erica Gallagher each finished with two goals and added an assist as Wyoming Area easily took care of GAR Tuesday.
Kranson scored just three minutes into the game, with Gallagher following her up just five minutes later. Also scoring for Wyoming Area were Eden Stella and Sydney Maguire. Caitlin Butchko made six saves for the Warriors.

Luchia Carabetta scored two of the Patriots’ three second-half goals, both assisted by Grace Mimnaugh, in a win over Hazleton Area Monday.
Mia Barbieri scored Pittston Area’s last goal on a penalty kick and Taryn Ashby made one save in the shutout.

Pittston Area’s Taryn Ashby made five saves as Coughlin scored two goals in the first half and two goals in the second half on Wednesday.
The Patriots were outshot 10-5.

Mackenzie Love’s hat trick led the way as the Black Knights topped Wyoming Area Monday.
