WILLIAMSPORT — Wyoming Area entered the night as the Wyoming Valley Conference’s top scoring defense, allowing just 86 points in the first eight games.
But the Warriors hadn’t seen an offense like the one at Williamsport. The Class 6A Millionaires scored eight first-half touchdowns and finished the night with 570 total yards in a 62-21 victory on Friday over Wyoming Area (7-2).
It was a big game for Wyoming Area’s Marc Minichello. The Warrior junior finished the game with four catches for 211 yards. He caught a 39-yard touchdown pass from PJ Angeli in the second quarter and a 76-yard touchdown pass from Steve Homza in the third quarter.
The duo of quarterback Isaiah Hankins and tailback Treyson Potts figured in on all eight of those first-half scores for Williamsport (8-1). Hankins ran for three touchdowns and threw two more for 231 total yards. Potts had four carries for 186 yards and found the end zone on three of them.
Wyoming Area, one of the top rushing offenses in the WVC, was held to just 68 yards on 29 carries. Brian Miles finished with 25 yards and a touchdown. Angeli had 133 yards through the air. Williamsport, which finished with 570 yards of offsense, nearly doubled Wyoming Area’s offensive output with 570 total yards.
Miles also had an interception in the loss.
