Seniors Seth White and Austin Alder return to lead a Wyoming Area boys swimming team that will once again try to make the most of a small roster.
The Warriors will compete with about 10 boys.
Last season, they went 2-7 in Wyoming Valley Conference dual meets where they were hurt by the inability to fill events and score extra place points. They did, however, have the ability to finish high in many events and used that to place sixth out of 14 teams at the District 2 Class 2A championships.
White and Alder are the most experienced of the returnees.
“(White) has been doing so well and improving every year,” Warriors coach Natalie Carr said.
Alder is the only returning swimmer who scored district points in individual events. He placed 11th in the 50 freestyle and 12th in the 100 freestyle.
Senior Alex Chronowski is back for his third season on the team.
Junior Steven Dymond, who was in the lineup for district competition with White and Chronowski, is also back.
“He dropped tons of time last year,” Carr said of Dymond.
Freshman Joe Garshak “has been very dedicated,” according to Carr and could help the team early.
Wyoming Area opens with a non-league meet against Wallenpaupack at home Dec. 9. It begins WVC competition Dec. 13 at Hazleton Area.
