Austin Alder, Alex Chronowski and Seth White each won one event Tuesday when Wyoming Area’s boys and girls swimming teams opened the season with a Wyoming Valley Conference meet at Hazleton Area.
Hazleton Area won 21 of the 24 events, including all the relays and all the girls races, while sweeping the team wins.
BOYS

Alder and Chronowski each won one individual event and finished second in another.
Alder won the 100-yard freestyle in 1:00.41 and finished second in the 200 individual medley.
Chronowski won the 50 freestyle in 27.25 seconds and was second behind Alder in the 100 freestyle.
White won the 100 backstroke in 1:20.47.
Steven Dymond had a pair of third-place finishes.
The Warriors’ best relay finish came in the 400 freestyle where White, Chronowski, Joe Gasek and Alder were second.
GIRLS
Hazleton Area 132
Wyoming Area 53
Wyoming Area had four individual second-place finishes in a meet where Hazleton Area swept all the wins.
Olivia Bugelholl and Sydni Johnson each had a second- and third-place finish individually. Mackenzie Pegg and Leah Moore had the other second-place finishes.
Hallie Stark and diver Brianna Cannell had third-place finishes.
Johnson and Moore were each on two second-place relay teams.
The week ahead
Pittston Area gets its season started Tuesday when it goes to Wyoming Area for a girls meet.
