Little League registration concluding

PITTSTON — Pittston City Little League will hold final 2017 registrations from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 and from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26.

Sign ups are help in the press box at the Little League field. Players should provide three proofs of residency and a birth certificate.

Fees are as follows: T-ball, $30; Coach Pitch, $60; Minors, $65; Majors, $65; and Juniors/Seniors, $100.

All levels of play will all be required to pay a $25 fundraising fee at time of registration.

American Legion sets signups

PITTSTON — Anyone interested in playing for Greater Pittston American Legion may sign up from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday, March 5 at the Italian American Citizens Club, Oak Street.

Players must reside in the following communities: Duryea, Exeter, Exeter Twp., Hughestown, Pittston City, West Pittston, West Wyoming, Wyoming and Pittston Township (west of the Pittston Bypass).

Registration fee is $125 per play. New players must bring a copy of original birth certificate.

Valley Laxerz holding free play sessions

WEST PITTSTON — The Valley Laxerz Youth Lacrosse Organization will hold free play days for interested boys and girls in grades two through eight at the West Pittston Little League building.

Boys’ sessions run from 7 top 8:30 p.m. Tuesday nights in February and girls’ sessions are from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday nights. These are informal sessions geared towards teaching the kids the fundamentals of lacrosse.

A limited amount of loaner equipment is available to use on a first come first serve basis. Participants are encouraged to send an email to the addresses listed below if they need to borrow or use any equipment prior to showing up for the sessions.

The Laxerz regular season runs from March to May with two practices per week and approximately 10 games played locally.

Kids are still able to participate in other spring sports while still participating in lacrosse.

WA Lacrosse sponsoring bus trip

EXETER — The Wyoming Area Lacrosse organizations will be sponsoring a bus trip to see the Ohio State Buckeyes take on Penn State in Women’s Lacrosse on Saturday April 1 at Penn State University.

This will be a family trip and open to men, women and children.

The bus will leave from a place to be determined at 7:30 a.m. allowing for tailgating and viewing of the campus for those who are interested. The game starts at 1:30 p.m.

Bus will leave 30-minutes after the game ends and return back to the area that evening.

Price of the trip is $40 per person and money is due at the time of the reservation. Seats will be held on a first come – first served basis.

This trip will be used as a fundraiser that will benefit the Wyoming Area Lacrosse organizations.

Holy Rosary Elementary School basketball teams claim victory

DURYEA — Congratulations to the third and fourth grade basketball teams of Holy Rosary Elementary School. The teams recently won the League Season and Playoff Championship.

The league season championship winners were coached by Dr. and Mrs. Bryan Martin and the playoff championship winners were coached by Mr. David Licari, Dr. Mark Lyons and Mr. Adam Chase. The teams participated in Saint Nicholas/Saint Mary’s League.
