Wyoming Valley Conference girls lacrosse coaches have selected Wyoming Seminary’s Kate Romanowski, a senior from West Pittston, as their Player of the Year for the second straight season.

Romanowski led the Blue Knights to an unbeaten championship season in the WVC as well as the District 2 Class 2A championship.

Christina Kilyanek, a sophomore from Hughestown, joined Romanowski among Wyoming Seminary’s first-team, all-star selections, according to the coaches.

Wyoming Area senior attacker Caity Butchko and Pittston Area junior midfielder Nina Cirelli were second-team selections.

ALL-STAR GAMES

Two players each from Pittston Area and Wyoming Area will play for the Wyoming Valley Conference when it takes on the Lackawanna League at 5 p.m. Sunday in the Field of Dreams Game at PNC Field in Moosic.

Shortstop Kyle O’Fier and pitcher Tyler Jackson will represent Pittston Area while center fielder Mikey Bonita and pitcher Josh Kopcza represent Wyoming Area.

According to Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association rules, all all-star games are senior-only and players still involved in their high school seasons are not eligible to compete.

Wyoming Valley lacrosse officials are planning a senior all-star doubleheader at Lake-Lehman June 15, beginning with the girls game at 6 p.m.

The Dallas Kiwanis Club is working on plans to again host the annual Robert Dolbear WVC Softball All-Star Game later in the month. Details are still being arranged.
