Hassan Maxwell’s fourth-quarter interception helped King’s College finish off a 40-26 win over Wilkes University Nov. 11 in the Mayor’s Cup football game.

Maxwell, a Pittston Area graduate, and Jake Manetti, an Old Forge graduate, each finished out their college careers with a win to complete a 5-5 season for the Monarchs.

King’s scored in the first minute of the fourth quarter for its 40-26 lead.

Wilkes drove to third-and-goal at the 11. That’s when Maxwell picked off a pass at the 6 and returned it 36 yards with 12:35 left.

King’s held the ball all but 52 seconds the rest of the game, including running the final 6:12 off the clock to drive to second-and-goal at the 3 before taking a knee twice to end the game.

Maxwell also had two tackles and three assists.

Mando Sallavanti, a redshirt freshman from Old Forge, assisted on one tackle.

Three of the four starting King’s linebackers in the game were Old Forge graduates Manetti, Sallavanti and Horn.
