Dupont’s Brandon Matthews made the cut in the first two events of the Tour season, making him 4-for-5 for his career on the professional golf tour.

Matthews, who has his card this season to play regularly on the tour, finished in a tie for 56th when The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic wrapped up Wednesday.

The former state high school champion from Pittston Area shot 73-71-72-71 to finish at 1-under-par, 287 and earn $1,578.

Through two events, Matthews is tied for 56th on the tour money list with $3,798. Tour events trim the field about in half after the first two rounds with those golfers advancing into the final two rounds and earning money.

Matthews started strong in Monday’s second round. After posting birdies on three of the first five holes, he recorded his first eagle of the season on the 495-yard eighth hole.

Matthews finished 9-under-par on the par-5s during the tournament.

In the first eight rounds of the season, Matthews has finished under-par five times, at par once and over-par twice.

The Tour moves to the traditional Thursday through Sunday schedule beginning this week with The Panama Championship, a $625,000-event in Panama City.

Matthews plans to play in at least the first eight events of the tour schedule.
