Brandon Matthews put together consecutive rounds of 65 and 66 in the middle of last week’s KC Golf Classic to produce his best Web.com Tour finish since late May.

Matthews recovered from Thursday’s opening 73 and finished with a 70 Sunday for a 10-under-par, 274 in the tournament in Overland Park, Kan. to finish tied for 27th and earn $4,590.

The 24-year-old from Dupont has earned $63,050 to rank 72nd on the tour money list.

Matthews, a Pittston Area and Temple University graduate, had missed the cut in five of his previous eight tournaments. He is second on the tour in driving distance (335.7-yard average) and 15th in birdies (4.31 per round).
