Avoca/Dupont LL meeting is Sept. 9
AVOCA — The Avoca Open is sponsored by the Avoca Ancient Order of Hibernians and all proceeds benefit a scholarship fund for local high school graduates and other community projects.
The next meeting for the Avoca/Dupont Little League will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 at the Little League field.
During the meeting, election of officers for the 2018- 2019 season will be conducted. The available positions are league president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, player agent, and safety officer.
The president oversees all league operations. The vice president fills in when the president is not available and is the head of all committees. The treasurer maintains league financial records. The secretary records the minutes of meetings and disseminates league news. The player agent is the first point of contact for any player issues and assists in selecting all-star teams. The safety officer is in charge of maintaining the safety of players and spectators.
In addition to the elected positions, the following non-elected positions are available: field maintenance coordinator, social media coordinator, website administrator, coaching coordinator, concession stand coordinator, fundraising committee members, scoreboard operator and team parents.
All fall season coaches are required to attend the meeting.
Anyone wishing to volunteer or anyone interested in the league is welcome.
