Lily Savoy finished with 10 points and Pittston Area held Hanover Area to 11 second-half points while posting a 47-29 victory Monday in non-league girls basketball.

The win was the first of the season for the Lady Patriots, who finished the week with a 1-2 record.

Nicole Zambetti and Hannah Getz added eight points each in the win.

Pittston Area 24

North Pocono held host Pittston Area to three first-quarter points Thursday.

The Lady Trojans led 16-3 after one quarter and stretched it to 37-13 going into the fourth quarter.

Hannah Getz led the Lady Patriots with eight points.

Riverside 58

Wyoming Area 48

Julia Antoniacci scored 19 points and Kylie Lavelle added 18 Tuesday to lead Riverside to the non-league win.

The Lady Vikes led 24-7 after one quarter.

Nicole Silinskie scored 20 points and Cassidy Orzel had 13 for Wyoming Area. Silinskie hit four 3-pointers and Orzel had the team’s other three.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lackawanna Trail 64

Wyoming Area 51

Wyoming Area opened a 23-15 lead after one quarter of Wednesday’s home game, but Lackawanna Trail rallied for the win.

The Warriors hit four 3-pointers in the first quarter, two by Dan Wiedl and one each by Jake Greenfield and Cole Coolbaugh.

Wiedl, who finished with 15 points, and Greenfield, who finished with 12 points, each had seven points in the quarter.

The Lions took a 37-33 lead at halftime, then held the Warriors to six points in the third quarter.

WRESTLING

Woodruff Memorial Duals

Wyoming Area went 2-3 Dec. 8 in the Gary Woodruff Memorial Duals at Wyalusing.

The Warriors beat Elk Lake (42-12) and Sayre (39-37) but lost to Waverly, N.Y. (42-30), Abington Heights (60-9) and Blue Ridge (42-18).

Jaryn Polit-Moran went 5-0 at 195 pounds, picking up three forfeits, pinning Jordan Goodrich from Sayre in 1:05 and beating R.J. Knott from Abington Heights, 5-0.

Sophomore Kyle Emsley went 4-0 at 120 with three pins in 1:09 or less and a forfeit.

Pittston Area made its debut as an official boys team in Tuesday’s Wyoming Valley Conference opener.

Wyoming Area did not win an event in its WVC opener Wednesday until Dallas entered its swimmers as “exhibition” only, not pursuing any additional points in the final four events.
