Abby Norwillo is just one dual meet into her collegiate career and she already ranks among the best ever in her event at the University of Pennsylvania.
Norwillo was one of three Penn pole vaulters to clear 3.81 meters (12 feet, 6 inches), leading a Penn sweep of the event for nine points in a 63-41, indoor track & field victory over Harvard Dec. 9.
The freshman from Pittston Area was eighth in the scholastic pole vault at New Balance Nationals last year.
Zoe Early, Katherine Schroeder and Norwillo all made the same height against Harvard, tying each for the third-best performance in school history.
Norwillo lost out on the tiebreaker because of more misses at the previous heights and settled for third place.
Penn began the season in The College of New Jersey Opener Dec. 1. Norwillo did not clear a height at that meet.
The Quakers return to action Nov. 12 with the Navy Invitational.
