Kyle O’Fier was one of the leaders of an historic season for the Bloomsburg University baseball program.

Bloomsburg won its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference title since 1965 and won a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II tournament game for the first time since 1995.

O’Fier was one of two players to start all 51 games.

The sophomore infielder from Pittston Area led the team in home runs with 12, the third-highest total in school history, and 44 runs scored. He was also second with 45 runs batted in while batting .266.

O’Fier had an RBI double in the sixth inning to erase a deficit in the 2-1 NCAA Atlantic Region victory over Millersville University to break the national tournament dry spell.

Jeremy Zezza, a senior pitcher from Wyoming Area, was also part of the 35-16 team.

Zezza was effective in limited opportunities. He had a 3.18 earned run average in six appearances, giving up six hits while striking out seven and not walking a batter in 5 2/3 innings.
