Sarah Fugate has high expectations as she enters her first season as head coach of the Wyoming Area girls volleyball team that went 11-6 in the Wyoming Valley Conference a year ago.

“I am super confident in my team and how we will do this season,” Fugate said. “They are hard-working, disciplined, and dedicated.

“I plan on having a high-win season and making districts.”

Seniors Marissa Kovaleski, Alison Lynch and Selena Forlenza all return to the starting lineup.

Kovaleski will handle the setter duties. Lynch and Forlenza can play all over the court with Lynch concentrating on outside hitting and Forlenza as a middle hitter.

Senior Sarah Ktytor and junior Hannah Garinger are two more outside hitters who can contribute with their all-around play.

Ktytor, Garinger, senior libero Gabriella Gonzales and senior middle hitter Brianna Mission all have some varsity experience.

Vanessa Chinikaylo, a junior, will contribute on the front row, particularly as an outside hitter.

Fugate, a Wyoming Valley West graduate, made her head coaching debut at Coughlin last season.
