Both Lake-Lehman teams and the Dallas girls opened the Wyoming Valley Conference cross country seasons with sweeps Wednesday.

The first week of the WVC season features competition among teams that will then travel together the rest of the season in the cluster meet schedule format.

Lake-Lehman defeated Tunkhannock, 20-43, and host Wyoming Valley West, 25-34, in the boys meet. It edged Wyoming Valley West, 27-28, and beat Tunkhannock, 15-50, in the girls meets.

Abby Paczewski followed up her runner-up finish in the season-opening Cliff Robbins Invitational by finishing first in the tri-meet with a time of 21:19 for the 3.1-mile course.

Tunkhannock’s Anna Brown was second.

Wyoming Valley West’s Tavian McKenna finished first in the boys meet.

Nathan Myers from Tunkhannock was second and Nick Hockenbury from Lake-Lehman was third.

Dallas defeated Wyoming Area, 18-37, and also picked up a win over host Wyoming Seminary, 15-50, in another girls opener.

The Mountaineers defeated Wyoming Seminary, 20-41, but lost to Wyoming Area, 24-31, in boys.
