The Pittston Area girls volleyball team is headed to the District 2-4 Class 3A Subregional tournament.
Following a pair of three-set home victories on consecutive days, the first of which clinched the postseason berth, the Lady Patriots are 9-4. They rank fourth out of 12 teams trying to make a field of at least eight teams.
Any team that finishes with at least a .500 record is guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. Going into Monday’s matches, there are nine teams with winning records, making it likely the tournament will be expanded by at least one team.
