Avoca Basketball League
Registrations will be held for the Avoca Basketball League for boys and girls in grades K through 6 Sunday, Jan. 19 from 11 a.m. to noon in the Avoca Community Center, 800 Main St. The ABL is directed by Stan Waleski and played in memory of Michael Joyce. Greater Pittston Little League Online registration for the Greater Pittston Area Little League Spring 2020 season is now open at gplittleleague.com. Online registrations will remain open until Feb. 7. Returning players can log in their existing account; new players to the league will need to create an account to register. Anyone between the ages of 4 and 12 who lives in Avoca, Duryea, Dupont, Pittston City, including Glendale, Houston City, or Pocono Ridge Estates or attends the Pittston Area intermediate Center or Holy Rosary, may play in the league.
the league conduct a full draft of all major and minor teams yearly. A skills assessment is conducted for all returning and new players annually.
Registration fee (which include insurance, jersey, and hat) are:
Tee Ball (age 4-6) $25
Coach Pitch (age 6-9) $50
Minor (age 9-11) $85
Major (age 10-12) $85
Maximum charge per family $125
Little League meeting
The Greater Pittston Area Little League will conduct its next board meeting at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Duryea VFW Post 492, Stephenson Street. Recently, Avoca/Dupont, Duryea and Pittston City formally completed their merger to form Greater Pittston Area Little League.
