WEST WYOMING — Councilwoman Eileen Cipriani urged all residents to complete and send back their income surveys as soon as possible at Monday night’s council meeting.

The surveys were mailed to residents of Lincoln Avenue, Oak Street and Watson Street. Cipriani said that “about half of the surveys have already been sent back.”

The surveys are necessary for the borough’s Community Block Development Grant application process and need to be in as quickly as possible in order to meet the upcoming deadline.

The Commission on Economic Opportunity’s Food 4 Kids program will provide free healthy lunches and activities throughout the summer in Charney Park, 8th Street.

The program begins on June 15 and is available for all children 18 years old and younger. Volunteers are needed for all sites, including Exeter, Wyoming, West Wyoming and West Pittston. For more information on volunteering, call Fran Moran at (570) 445-1625.

Daniel Grescavage of Community Development announced that the DEP inspections of the catch basin and concrete channel have been postponed until June 23. Grescavage reminded residents to have their gates unlocked prior to the DEP inspector’s arrival.

Council approved the hiring of Matthew Evans as part-time police officer.

The council will meet next at 7:30 p.m. on July 13.
