The Sunday Dispatch Greater Pittston Lifetime of Service Award is named in honor of the late Atty. Joseph F. Saporito, Sr., who passed away in 2001, concluding his own lifetime of service. A former mayor of Pittston, Atty. Saporito served the community in a variety of ways, mostly by providing a marvelous example of dignity and gentlemanly behavior. The first Sunday Dispatch Lifetime of Service Award was presented to him posthumously and accepted by his widow, Yolland “Dolly” Saporito, who has since passed away, and his sons, Carlo Saporito and Atty. Joseph Saporito, Jr. All subsequent Lifetime of Service Awards bear Atty. Saporito Sr.’s name.
