WEST PITTSTON — At a special public meeting Wednesday, the borough council members adopted the 2017 budget which stands at $6,623,197 with a mill rate of 3.26.
A mill is $1 in tax for every $1,000 in assessed property value.

The budget also calls for no tax increase.
Also during the meeting, the council members accepted the resignation of Councilman Pet Albano. The council has a state-mandated 30 days to fill his vacancy.
In other business, the council members adopted three resolutions to apply for Local Share Accounts Grants which include:
• $86,006 for police and fire emergency vehicles.
