WEST PITTSTON — At a special public meeting Wednesday, the borough council members adopted the 2017 budget which stands at $6,623,197 with a mill rate of 3.26.

A mill is $1 in tax for every $1,000 in assessed property value.

The mill rate is a .20 increase from the previous year for fire protection as council opted to provide the West Pittston Fire Department funds to make an annual payment of $41,000 for fire truck payments.

The budget also calls for no tax increase.
