WEST PITTSTON — The West Pittston Cherry Blossom Festival Committee announces this year’s participants for the Little Miss Cherry Blossom Contest, which will be held Saturday, May 5.

All contestants will ride in the parade and each girl will be judged on her talent, stage presence, interview and overall participation.

Mia Bovani

Mia is the 2017 Little Miss Cherry Blossom. She is the daughter of Dante Bovani and Laura Dennis. She has a brother Dante, 16 and a new puppy, Chloe. Mia is a second-grade student in Mrs. Powers’ class at Wyoming Area Catholic School. She attends dance classes at Joan Harris in Luzerne and plays baseball for the West Pittston Little League. She especially loves singing and cannot wait for the warm weather to go swimming.

Layla Lasher

Layla is currently a first-grade student at the Wyoming Area Primary Center. She is the daughter of Ted and Stefani Lasher. She loves practicing karate at NEPA Mixed Martial Arts in Luzerne, where she currently has her yellow stripe belt, and playing soccer for the Pittston Stoners. Layla loves being a big sister and loves to draw and write stories. She’s full of energy and joy.

Isabella Miller

Isabella is 6 years old and a social butterfly. She attends David Blight School of Dance and takes ballet and tap/jazz. She participated in this past year’s David Blight’s Christmas Spectacular hosted at Dallas Middle School. She enjoys dancing, singing, and making her own YouTube videos. She is a kindergarten student at Wyoming Area.

Isabella Rose Farrell

Isabella is the daughter of Jill Impaglia and Sean Farrell, both of Wyoming. She is 8 years old and has an older sister, Taylor, who is 13. Isabella is in second grade at the Wyoming Area Primary Center. She has a lot of fun playing with her cat, Sprinkles, and having “dance parties” with her sister, as well as play dates with her friends. She is in her first year of Little League softball with the Lady Warriors. She also really enjoys collecting and taking care of her Baby Alive and Reborn dolls. She is very creative and loves to design unique outfits for the dolls, as well as for herself. She also loves to read, dance and sing, especially when she makes up her own songs. She is interested in cooking and baking with her mom. She hopes to become famous. She would also like to be a teacher.

Abby Hribal

Abby is 7 years old and in second grade at the Wyoming Area Primary Center where her favorite subjects continue to be reading and math. This school year she is also in the gifted program. Thus far in this program she has studied Medieval Times, sharks and dolphins. She is currently working on the subject of Tsunamis and the causes of them. Her aftershool activities include ballroom dancing with Ballroom One, ballet, theater and, most recently, vocal lessons with the very talented Jenn Johnson-Hamer at the Music Scene. Also, new to Abby’s agenda is being a member on Ballroom One’s newest mini competition team. Her first competition will be at the end of June. Abby has done two modeling projects so far this year where she was Model of the Month for Diva Dancewear Boutique in Hazleton for the month of February and just this past month of March, she walked in Jim Thorpe’s Victorian Tea and Fashion Show in celebration of Women’s History Month. Abby’s message again this year is to “Get out and support your local performing arts.”

Krista Magyar

Krista is a spirited young girl. She is 6 years old and a student at Wyoming Area. She loves animals, especially cats; she has a dog Domino and a cat Victor who she loves cuddling with. Krista loves both ballet and cheerleading and can’t wait to start the next cheer season for the WWWE Panthers. When she is not doing ballet or cheer, she loves to swim and play with her cousins Rian and Gabe. She also takes karate lessons from her grandfather and loves to practice her new moves on her dad.

Shelby Gavin

Shelby is a 7-year-old, second-grade student at Wyoming Area Primary Center. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 30866. She also recently joined the KISS Theatre and participated in her first show, “Aladdin.” Shelby loves art, singing and dancing. She is very fun loving, outgoing and full of life. She lives in Exeter with her dad, mom and little brother, Crosby.

Lilly Nardone

Lilly Nardone is a 7-year-old, first-grader at the Wyoming Area Primary Center. Her favorite subject is math. She likes to dance and sing. She dances ballet, tap and jazz at Joan Harris Center. She enjoys soccer, gymnastic and cheerleading.

Laila Kelly

Laila is the daughter of John Kelly and Carla Everett, West Pittston. She is 6 years old and is a student at the Wyoming Area Kindergarten Center. Laila has an older brother, Noah, and a little sister, Julianna. She is a fun loving, silly, funny, and smart little girl with a big heart. She loves singing, dancing, playing with her Barbies, riding her bike, jumping on the trampoline, and has become interested in gymnastics. She is also a cheerleader for the WWWE Panthers.
