PITTSTON TWP. – The Pittston Township Little League held opening ceremonies on Saturday, April 27, noting the 50th anniversary of the Little League.

Fred DeSanto, one of the founding fathers of the Pittston Township Little League, held a program during the opening ceremonies recognizing the originators of the field.

DeSanto introduced fellow founding fathers and descendants of fallen founding fathers as well as conveying the story behind the creation and location of the field.

The field was dug out of a hill at the townhip with the help of Peter V. Adonizio of Addy Asphalt bringing in large earth moving equipment.

Also feted was the 2023 PA Major League Softball D-16 championship team representing Pittston Area softball.

PA State Rep. James Haddock presented a special citation from the PA House of Representatives during the ceremony.

Little League president is Shawn Slusser, Joelle Martinelli, vice president.
