EXETER — The seventh annual Wyoming Area Scholarship Celebration was held May 25 in the secondary center cafeteria with over 450 people in attendance.
It was a banner year for awards, with over $191,000 awarded to 60 members of the Wyoming Area graduating class. Twelve new scholarships were added this year. In 2015, 53 seniors shared approximately $93,000 and 11 new scholarships were added.
Scholarships are offered by families, individuals, Wyoming Area graduating classes, civic organizations, business, school groups including a faculty scholarship. There are memorials for several community members who have died, funded by their families, friends or organizations to which they belonged.
Each scholarship has its own selection committee who make the final recipient selection.
