Rain is expected to dampen the Wyoming Valley today, but sunshine is expected to return for the weekend.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 52 degrees as of 5:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and fog and mist were reported.

Showers and a possible thunderstorm are expected before 3 p.m. today. A 90 percent chance of rain is predicted, and up to a quarter of an inch of rain could fall. The high will be near 62.

Mostly cloudy skies will follow into tonight, along with a slight chance of showers before 9 p.m. The low will be around 42.

Mostly cloudy skies will gradually become sunny to round out the week on Friday, with a high near 49. Mostly clear skies will follow into Friday night, with a low around 33.
