E. Ronald Rogers celebrated his 107th birthday with family at thenWesley Village care facility.

Mr. Rogers was born Jan. 29, 1910 in Bourne End, England near London. In 1912, he and his parents migrated to America and settled in West Pittston where his father was a carpenter in area coal mines.

Mr. Rogers graduated from West Pittston High School in 1929, the first class to graduate from the then-new high school building. He was employed for 42 years by PP&L at the plant in Harding, retiring in 1972.

He married Helen Baird Rogers and celebrated 69 years of marriage until her death in 2004.

Mr. Rogers is the oldest and lifelong member of the First United Presbyterian Church of West Pittston and a member of Valley Lodge 499 Free and Accepted Masons.

He is the father of Ronald K. Rogers and his wife, Madge, of Dallas; and Bettie Ann Morgan, Wilkes Barre. He has two grandchildren, Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas Judge Jennifer L. Rogers, of Harveys Lake; and Douglas R. Rogers, of Dover, MA. He has two great grandchildren, Dylan and Kaitlyn Rogers.
