Noone receives Spirit of Holy Cross Award

WILKES-BARRE — Anne Noone, of Pittston, was recently selected to receive the Spirit of Holy Cross Award, an annual recognition by the United States Province of Priests and Brothers of the critical importance lay people play in living out the vision and mission of Holy Cross founder Blessed Basil Moreau, C.S.C., to make God known, loved and served in education, parish and mission settings.

Noone has served in various positions at King’s College since 1966, working in both academic and administrative offices, currently serving as executive assistant to Father John Ryan, C.S.C, the college’s president.

She has also worked in the physics and mathematics departments and for various departments in the business division. She also worked in the College’s Academic Affairs Office and for the dean of the McGowan School of Business.

Noone was honored at a dinner held at Moreau Court, the residence for members of the Holy Cross Congregation serving King’s and the local community. The dinner was held in January as part of activities held in recognition of Blessed Basil Moreau’s life.

Old Forge’s Kiel Eigen giving presentation

DALLAS TWP. — The Misericordia University Interprofessional Education Connection (MIPEC) is offering a special presentation about turning tragedy into triumph by Kiel Eigen of Quantum Rehab at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22 in Lemmond Theater in Walsh Hall.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

Eigen, of Old Forge, is a spokesperson for Quantum Rehab, a power chair solutions division of Pride Mobility Products with corporate headquarters in Exeter. As a high school freshman football player in 2006, he suffered a neck injury in a game that left him paralyzed from the waist down.

Magdon named to dean’s list

NORTHFIELD, V.T. — Irene Evelyn Magdon, Dupont, has been named to the dean’s list at Norwich University for the fall 2016 semester.

Greater Pittston residents named to deans list

PHILADELPHIA — James Graziosi, Dupont, and Marina Maida, Pittston Township, were both recently named to the Saint Joseph’s University deans list for the 2016 fall semester.

Graziosi studies History in the University’s College of Arts and Sciences while Maida studies communication studies in the university’s College of Arts and Sciences.

Greater Pittston residents named to deans list

SELINSGROVE — Jordan Zezza, Exeter, and Anna McDermott, Hughestown, were both recently named to the Susquehanna University deans list for the 2016 fall semester.

Zezza is a 2013 Wyoming Area graduate and is neuroscience major.

McDermott is a 2016 Pittston Area graduate in an undeclared major.

Holy Redeemer students participate in March for Life

WILKES-BARRE — Students and faculty from Holy Redeemer High School in Wilkes-Barre traveled to Washington D.C. on Jan. 27 to participate in the 44th Annual March for Life.

Among the students were Greater Pittston residents Tessa Romani, Harding; Sarah Satkowski, Avoca; Collin Halagarda, Avoca; Ilana Cunningham, Wyoming; Molly Holmes, Avoca; Nicole Ceirelli, Harding; Mary Elizabeth Kishbaugh, Pittston.

The march is held every January in protest of United States Supreme Court’s 1973 ruling in Roe vs. Wade, which legalized abortion in the United States.
