Alfano receives Fulbright award

WILKES-BARRE — James Alfano Jr., of Pittston, a student at Wilkes University, has received a Fulbright U.S. Student Program award to Taiwan in Education from the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Alfano will support the teaching of English at Hualien City School Districts as part of a project to further promote cultural understanding and language instruction to Taiwanese students at their respective schools. He is one of over 1,900 U.S. citizens who will conduct research, teach English, and provide expertise abroad for the 2018-2019 academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.

ROCHESTER — Alia Gestl, Pittston, was named to the dean’s list at Rochester Institute of Technology for the 2018 spring semester.

Zaffuto named to dean’s list

SCRANTON — Brandon M. Zaffuto, Pittston, was named to The University of Scranton dean’s list for the 2017 fall semester after publication of the list in January.

Walsh receives degree

BALTIMORE, M.D. — William Walsh, Pittston, received a BBA degree in Business Administration at Loyola University Maryland’s 166th Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 19.

Conlon named to dean’s list

NOTRE DAME, I.N. — Michael J. Conlon, Pittston, was named to the University of Notre Dame’s College of Arts and Letters dean’s list for outstanding scholarship during the 2018 spring semester.
