PITTSTON — The fourth annual Health Fair, sponsored by the Pittston Memorial Library, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 in the new conference room at the library.
At least 30 vendors will have table booths inside the library. There is plenty of parking available and snack foods and water will be at the conference.
The variety of vendors has been expanded to enable new as well as past entities to have tables.
This event is free and open to the public with special attention to the Greater Pittston Area.
Howard J. Grossman, fund raising director at the library, is coordinating the fair and noted that, “Health is an essential part of the lives of all residents and families, and we extend the opportunity to the public to obtain valuable information from all of our vendors and to learn more about health and wellness through the Library’s role as a member of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine.”
The Health Fair will feature the following organizations, including Behavior Health and Substance Abuse Services, Flexible Mobility, Caregivers America, Senior Care of Plains, Live Well Luzerne, Family Service Association of NEPA, IAG-OVR, Aetna Better Health of PA, Maternal and Family Service Center, Pathway to Recovery Counseling and Education Services, Greater Pittston YMCA, Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Wilkes-Barre Scranton Celiac Support Group 91, Caring Communities. Gift of Life of Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pa, Northeast Highway Safety Program, Ecumenical Enterprises, At-Home, Tri Heating, Griswold Homes, Early Intervention, Comfort Keepers, CONCERN, PA. Department of Health, Golden Care of NEPA, Cawley Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Life Geisinger, Amerihealth Caritas PA, and the Area Agency on Aging serving Luzerne and Wyoming Counties.
Funding has been made available from Geisinger Wyoming Valley in support of the Health Fair. Patricia Joyce, library director, and Lois Ostrowski, president of the library board of trustees noted that, “The health and wellness of the families of the Greater Pittston Area can be a focus through attending the Health Fair and serves as a way to extend the role of library as a community center. We encourage as many people as possible to visit the library on Nov. 8 and at other times to demonstrate the value of how libraries change lives.”
