We are so excited to announce the grand opening of our NEW used bookstore. The store is open from noon to 6:30 p.m. daily and is packed with wonderful treasures and easily accessible from the main library.

Usborne Books and More Fair

The holidays are right around the corner, If you’d like to get some early shopping done, stop by the library to see the beautiful children’s literature (and more!) Usborne has to offer. The book fair will be set up in the Children’s Wing of the library from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Christmas Countdown Canvas Painting

Join us as our friend Joanne from Cup of Paint shows us how to create this Countdown to Christmas canvas painting at 6 p.m. Nov. 13.

We will use chalk paint to personalize the train as we count down to Christmas. All materials will be provided including, a piece of chalk. Christmas cookies will be served. Call 570-654-9565 to register.

Meet the artist

Join the Friends of the library for their Meet The Artist Afternoon, Tobi Grossmanat 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18. Hear Tobi’s story, enjoy refreshments and an afternoon of friendship. This event is free and open to the public

Pennsylvania Bigfoot Investigations

Join us for an evening with Pennsylvania Bigfoot Investigations from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19. This program is free and for all all ages. Private message the page to register or call 570-654-9565, ext. 21.

The group will talk about its history, local investigations and local Bigfoot sightings. There will be time for questions. Maps and photo evidence will be on display. This program is brought to you by the Tom & Dianne Tigue Adult Program Series.

Book Fair at Barnes & Noble

Join the Friends of the Pittston Library for their annual book fair at our local Barnes and Noble from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 8. Vouchers are now available at the library. Prefer to shop online? Use code #12452876 for online purchases. A percentage of all sales will be given back to the library.

WEST PITTSTON LIBRARY

Movie Nights for Adults will be held at 5:30 p.m. every other Thursday. The dates and movies are as follows: Nov. 29 — “A Wrinkle in Time.”

Computer Lab Saturdays will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 17.

Writer’s Workshops will be held at 6 p.m. the first and third Thursday of every month to challenge and inspire the poet or storyteller in you with writing exercises, coaching, and community. The next date is Nov. 15.

The West Pittston Walkers will meet at 9 a.m. Nov. 16.

Teen Advisory Board (TAB) will meet at 6 p.m. the following Tuesdays: Nov. 13.

Learn to write your own novel from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays Nov. 26. Participants can bring their laptops, tablets, notebooks or whatever they need.

Drop-In Builda-a-Thon will be held from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12. Children play with building materials such as Lincoln Logs, wooden blocks, Legos and more.

Teen Mehndi Henna Workshop will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Install a basic zipper into a small bag and use it later for make-up, money or other small essentials at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19. Cost to attend this program is $5.

Zen Garden Workshop will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20. This will provide children with materials they nee to assemble their own mini zen garden.

The Literary Snoops Book Club now meets at the West Pittston Library at 12:15 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month. Participants are encouraged to bring a bag lunch for the discussion.

WYOMING FREE LIBRARY

The Wyoming Free Library will hold October Amnesty Month Patrons can bring in cans of grain free dog food and paper towels, along with their overdue items and have the fines waived. Fines will not be waived for previous fines, damaged or lost materials, lost library cards or items that belong to other libraries in Luzerne County. People can donate even if they don’t have overdue materials. All items collected will be donated to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge.

LAFLIN PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Laflin Book Discussion Group will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 to discuss the book “Law of Similars.” The next book, “Ordinary Grace” will be distributed. New members are always welcome.

The Library Association will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13. New members are always welcome.

Adults visiting the library and borrowing a book may enter their name to a random drawing for a basket for Thanksgiving. Students, grade 7 through grade 12 borrowing a book may enter their name to a random drawing for cash prize. Winners will be notified on Nov.20.

For children ages 3 through age 12, the library is having a coloring contest. Entry forms may be picked up at the library or from our website laflinlibrary.org. All entry forms will need to be returned by Saturday, Nov. 17. For more information, call the library.
