Mia Nardone is once again leading the way for the Marywood University women’s swimming team.
Nardone, the team’s Most Valuable Swimmer last season, turned in one of the team’s top performances so far this season during a 113-92 loss to Carbini Nov. 11.
The meet was the last competition for the Pacers (0-4) until they swim in the Nov. 30-Dec. 1 Ithaca College Invitational.
Nardone won the 100-yard butterfly and 100 backstroke just minutes apart. Earlier in the meet, her 100 butterfly leg temporarily rallied the Pacers into the lead in the 400 medley relay.
The senior from Pittston Area was a first-team Landmark Conference all-star and Landmark Championships gold medalist in the 200 butterfly. She set a school record of 4:45.12 in the 400 individual medley while placing second.
Nardone posted 10 individual event wins in dual meets during the season.
As a sophomore, Nardone established seven school records, had 10 dual meet event wins and finished in the conference’s top six in three individual events.
Nardone made any early impact at Marywood, earning team MVP honors as a freshman.
At Pittston Area, Nardone set two individual school records and was part of two relay records. She was a four-time state qualifier, a two-event district champion (100 butterfly, 100 backstroke) and a team captain as a junior and season.
Nardone was also class valedictorian.
